Casey & Lowe and Heritage Now have formed a partnership. The Casey & Lowe team will be working with Heritage Now to deliver historical archaeological assessments and undertake historical archaeological excavations in NSW. We feel very privileged to work with Dr Mary Casey, Tony Lowe and the team who have decades of experience in the field and have been at the forefront of historical archaeological practice in Australia.

Mary has been a heritage consultant since 1989. She has undertaken hundreds of assessments and analysis of archaeological site potential, extensive field survey projects and the archaeological component of five heritage studies. Mary has expertise in historic surveys of large-scale development areas, including the former ADI Site, St Marys; Menangle Park; Rouse Hill Infrastructure; and Mt Victoria to Lithgow road upgrade.

Mary has directed and co-directed many archaeological excavations and monitoring programs, notably the Parramatta North Project; Parramatta Children’s Court Site; Parramatta Justice Precinct; Darling Quarter, Sydney Metro Projects, Darling Harbour; Western Sydney Stadium; Barangaroo South and the Conservatorium of Music Site.

Mary was appointed as an honorary Research Associate, Department of Prehistoric and Historical Archaeology, School of Philosophical and Historical Inquiry, University of Sydney in 2004, as well as holding a position on the Archaeological Advisory Panel of the Heritage Council of NSW, and was an editor for 6 years for the Australasian Historical Archaeology journal and co-convenor of Australian Women in Archaeology Conference. She is currently co-editor of the monography series, Studies in Australasian Historical Archaeology.

Tony has been a heritage consultant since 1989 and has 42 years of experience across numerous kinds of archaeological sites in Australia and the Middle East, including graves and cemeteries. As an officer in the Air Force Specialist Reserve he has worked on the recovery of missing Australian soldiers from the Vietnam War, WW1, and WW2. Recoveries were undertaken in Vietnam, PNG, Belgium, France and Indonesia. He has managed the archaeology of major civil projects, including the North West Rail Link, Lane Cove Tunnel, Cross City Tunnel and other infrastructure projects.

Tony has extensive experience in the excavation of early European sites in Sydney, notably many State Heritage Register projects in The Rocks, Millers Point and Western Sydney. He has extensive experience in the assessment and management of early archaeological sites in the Greater Sydney area. Mary and Tony have built a knowledgeable and expert team who have benefited from their years of knowledge. We are very excited to be joining with Casey & Lowe and embarking on a new chapter of Heritage Now.
